Most of Superior was built in the 1990s, when Rock Creek and Sagamore filled in and the town grew from a few hundred people to about 9,000. Those homes are now around 30 years old, which is right about when the trees out front get big enough to find the sewer line.

Superior also has a lot of brand new plumbing. Close to 400 homes were lost in the 2021 Marshall Fire, and a new build's first main line clog often comes from construction debris or the spot where new pipe meets old.
